3 Benefits to Building Leaders instead of Buying Leaders

Every growing church must ask themselves as they expand: Should we hire from the outside or the inside? I believe that in many cases, building is better than buying. In other words, hire and develop within your church rather than hiring outside of your church. Now, some positions are entirely fine for hiring, but I believe that there are some leadership positions that are better for building. A principle to live by is to buy doers and build the developers. Build those who will be developing and leading people. Those with the most influence over your church should be built … Continue reading 3 Benefits to Building Leaders instead of Buying Leaders

Book Review: Jesus Continued by J.D. Greear

Before Jesus ascended up into Heaven from earth, He told the disciples that “a comforter would come.” Jesus even referred to this comforter as a “promise.” The promise as we all know is the promise of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is without question the most forgotten member of the Trinity (The Godhead- The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit). In fact, Francis Chan wrote a book with that same title back in 2009 about the Holy Spirit. J.D. Greear released his new book last month entitled Jesus Continued by J.D. Greear. His discussion is centered around his … Continue reading Book Review: Jesus Continued by J.D. Greear

Book Giveaway- “Stop Asking Jesus into your Heart” by J.D. Greear

One of the best books that I have read recently is “Stop asking Jesus into your heart” by Pastor J.D. Greear. This book tackles the difficult doctrine of “assurance of Salvation.” Many Christians struggle with this concept, because we put so much pressure on us and our feelings when the pressure of our Salvation rests on Jesus, and what He has done and been for us. This book challenges each believer to look beyond your feelings, and rest on the promises of God for your Salvation! I believe in the concepts of this book, and believe in its theology! That … Continue reading Book Giveaway- “Stop Asking Jesus into your Heart” by J.D. Greear

Book Review: Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart

“If there were a Guinness Book of World Records record for amount of times having asked Jesus into your heart, I’m pretty sure I would hold it. By the time I reached the age of eighteen I had probably asked Jesus in my heart five thousand times.” This is an excerpt from Pastor J.D. Greear’s new book, “Stop asking Jesus into your heart.” J.D. addresses one of the most difficult questions in the average believer’s mind: DOUBT! The average believer struggles with assurance of their Salvation. “Am I really saved” is a question that the average pastor has to deal … Continue reading Book Review: Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart

Book Review: Gospel by J.D. Greear

I started the book, Gospel by J.D. Greear about 3 months ago, and got barely into it, and quit. I got busy, and stopped. Then, i picked it back up 2 weeks ago, and read the entire book in 2 days. J.D. is the lead pastor of the Summit Church in the Raleigh-Durham area, and the Lord is using him in incredible ways to reach those cities and colleges with the Gospel. The book, Gospel is the best and most challenging book that I have read all year aside from the Word of God. Here are some things I loved … Continue reading Book Review: Gospel by J.D. Greear
