I was handed the book “Love Does” by Bob Goff for Christmas. I am a reader so I figured that I would read it. Then, the same person gave me the book on cds to listen to on my trip for Christmas to Florida. I was driving by myself so I had the time to listen to the entire book. My wife hates listening to preaching, books, or talk radio so when she is in the car, I have to use headphones or listen to music. She makes the calls. Well, I was traveling by myself so I popped in all 5 cds and listened to the entire book on the way down.
Look, I admit I was a bit skeptical of the book title. I was unsure at the direction in which the book may go. After all, since Rob Bell’s “Love wins” came out, I believe everyone is a bit skeptical. I began the book, and after the first chapter was immediately hooked. Each chapter is a story from Bob’s life. Bob loves life. Let me say that again, Bob loves life. He enjoys living, and he enjoys loving. Each chapter will captivate your interest. You will find yourself crying, laughing, and inspired all in each chapter. Bob shows his action based theology in each chapter. He will challenge his audience to do rather than say. That is why the book is entitled, “Love Does.” If you truly love God, you will act like it. If you seriously love people. you will show it. Love does. Bob’s theology is more than just words, it is actually proven in the way that he lives.
Like mentioned before, each chapter is a story from Bob’s life. Bob believes that God uses events and life situations to draw us closer to Him, and to allow us the opportunity to show love to the world in which we live. You will see this proved through his story telling throughout the book.
If you want an inspiring and challenging read, this book is for you. You need to go into the book open-minded. Be ready to hear stories of the life of a man who just seeks out opportunities to love people and life throughout ordinary circumstances of life.
Thanks Bob for the inspiring book.
