One issue that is prevalent in today’s youth culture is the issue of cyberbullying. There has always been bullies. When I was growing up, there were bullies in our school. The bullies are not new, the means to bullying are new. For instance, on sites such as ask.fm, you can anonymously ask bullying questions. Many times, you can make statements on there that is bullying. The best part for teenagers is that they can remain anonymous. I have come across statements such as this:
* Who is the ugliest girl in your class
* What are the top 10 prettiest girls in this class?
*Why are you so fat?
*Why do you have so many zits?
*If no one likes her, why does she keep living? [No Lie]
*Do you think [Insert Name] is Annoying?
*Would you have sex with me?
This is cyberbullying at its finest. So, how do you combat this? Covenant Eyes who offer internet protection for your family has provided a free e-book entitled, “A parent’s guide to cyberbullying.” I encourage all parents to check this free resource out, and get involved. Parents, we all want to trust our kids, but we cannot trust the devil who is out there trying to use every possible means to destroy your kids.
