I believe the most dangerous pollution to a student’s mind is the music industry, and they are at it again. Music is a safe haven for most people. Most people love music. Adults all of the way down to the kids love music. I know that my 19 month old daughter loves music, and most of the television shows for her age involves a lot of music. Well, it is the same for teenagers. Teens are influenced heavily by music. It is a way that people express themselves, and in some cases, students feel as though they can relate to the frustration taken out in the song. They also love the beats so that they can be encouraged and feel pumped up.
This week, I wanted to share with you the top music videos for students between the ages of 13-18. This will probably shock you, and should disturb us. I am sharing these videos not to promote the perversion and explicit content, but to show you that it is important to have a good idea of the music that is filling your students ears. What you see below is disturbing:
1. “Stay” by Rihanna featuring Mikky Ekko
2. “Love me (Explicit)” by Lil Wayne featuring Drake, Future
3. “Scream & Shout (Remix)” by Will.I.Am
4. “Started from the Bottom (Explicit)” by Drake
5. “Suit & Tie” by Justin Timberlake featuring Jay Z
I bet you do not like what you see, and rightfully so, but it is important to understand the culture in which these students are living in so that we can better know how to reach them with the Gospel.
