Tim Schmoyer shared this video yesterday, and I thought it was very interesting, and I wanted to share it as well. You can read his thoughts and interact with him and others here. It has to do with the correlation of media and self-esteem. It deals with a teen girl and how the consumption of media can affect her self-esteem. This video is not necessarily written from a Christian perspective necessarily, but it has some principles that are great, and I wanted to see your thoughts. Here is the video:

Do you think media affects the self-esteem of our girls? What about guys? Comment below with your thoughts:

  1. May our Girls be nurtured in the truth that they are made in the image of God and to find and hold their identity in Christ. “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” It is my hope and prayer through the process of sanctification that God will surround his little children with Godly women, who will help rescue them from any false image or identity that is not fit for a daughter of the King of Kings. Maybe we will see more news stories like the “ 8th Grader Petitions Seventeen Magazine to Feature Un-airbrushed Photos” (We have highlighted many news reports on teens and self image on our website http://theyouthculturereport.com/ )

    1. Agreed Mike! Girls need to see that they are each individually made in the image of Christ, and Christ does not make junk. Hollywood though makes it out to be about the cutest, and the skiniest most of the time.

Thanks for the input, and for sharing my posts on your site! I appreciate what you guys do.

  2. This video sings Psalms 139:14: “…for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works…” Each girl (or boy) has great and immeasurable value in God’s eyes. Thank you for posting this video and reminding everyone that it’s what is inside your heart that matters, not what Hollywood or 5th Avenue thinks is “attractive.” Peace.

  3. Thanks… and

MissRepresentation.org seems to have a very close alliance with pro-abortion as a freedom of expression for women.

    Facts are abortion destroys women.

So the message maybe right- we are prey to media- of which her message is a part of.

Notice a little deeper of who’s who with MissRepresentation — all the pro-abortion women and the women who have bought into the media image of “strong women.”
