Mailchimp Review

Mailchimp is a great way for you to send “legit looking” email newsletters for FREE! If you are like me, and your budget is like ours, FREE is always a good thing. I heard of this resource a while back, but never got into using it. I felt that it would be unnecessary. So, I began talking with my brother-n-law about his student ministry and communicating with his leaders and parents. He suggested using mailchimp. I knew what it was, but had never used it. I could not have told you how to use it at all! So, he said that it was legit, free, and a great way of communicating. So, I figured that I would give it a try. He said that he would sit down with me and show me “hands on” how to use it, but we never found the time. So, I just started using it myself, and I fell in love with it. It is so easy compared to many other newsletter accounts. It gives you every resource for you to learn how to use it. If you come away clueless about mailchimp, it will be your own fault, because they give you every means to learn how to use it effectively. Here are a few things that I wanted to point out:

  1. Mailchimp is easy – I mentioned this above, but this is something that every student pastor is looking for: SIMPLE! Mailchimp is that. If you have any background of newsletters, you will pick this up in a heartbeat. I sat down for the first time in front of mailchimp, and completed a sharp-looking newsletter in about 35-40 minutes. You cannot beat that.
  2. Mailchimp is FREE – You do not have to pay for a flashy and fancy newsletter? Are you serious? That is awesome and makes mailchimp even more attractive!
  3. Mailchimp is Professional – Their email templates are professional. They look good. Normally, with a free site, you get what you pay for if you know what I mean. They are cheesy and cheap looking, and mailchimp are not either of these things. They look professional and nice!
  4. Mailchimp is customizable – You can choose from their templates, or create your very own which is nice. Now, creating your own takes some time, but it is doable. You can also change some things within the templates that they provide.

If you are not using mailchimp, I would strongly encourage and suggest this resource. It is a great tool for you to better effectively communicate to your students, leaders, and parents!
