Philippians 2:12 says, “Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own Salvation with fear and trembling.”
I want to blog about that phrase, “work out your own Salvation.” Let me just say up front, this does not mean work for your Salvation. It says, “work out.” Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.” We are saved by God’s grace through our faith in His finished work. We do nothing to get Salvation, and we do nothing to keep Salvation. Rather what Paul is saying to the church at Phillipi is to live out their Salvation. They need to make God known through their Salvation. In practical terms, “live what you say you believe.” Live life a Christian! Don’t be hypocritical.
I want to challenge you today to live out your Salvation. If you have been saved through the Gospel, make it known. There is a lost world around us dying for answers, and we have the answer that can radically change their life. The problem is that we are not working out our own Salvation. We think it is only for the pastors and missionaries, but this is for every follower of Christ!
Let’s make His name known big in the cities in which we represent!
